At some events it can be advantageous to use self-service registration terminals. Pre-registered visitors with barcode letters can scan their barcodes and print their badges themselves, and walk-in visitors can type in all their details without having to fill in a form. The main advantage is that several self-service terminals may be manned by one Host who makes sure that each visitor gets their badge and lanyard after registration. It also provides an alternative to visitors who may otherwise be frustrated by filling in a form and waiting in a queue.
A single self-service terminal is usually set-up as a “scan only” terminal and manned by a host and used as the “Fast-track” registration terminal for people who registered online and have a print out of their barcode confirmation email.
